PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project incorporates 3 primary components:

  • Tobacco Prevention Education
  • Media Literacy Education - culminating in a student produced social marketing campaign for your school and community.
  • Advocacy and Civic Engagement activities to encourage tobacco-free policies.

Benefits

  • Is an opportunity for your students to critically think about how youth continue to be the primary target of the tobacco market
  • Students will gain hands-on experience in producing media, sharpening presentation skills, and practicing citizenship by advocating for positive social change
  • Students will have the opportunity to work with professional television producers to create a public service announcement that will be distributed in a variety of media venues
  • Teachers will be able to attend an online Media Literacy Education workshop sponsored by Webster University with an opportunity to earn CEU credits

Students will create and implement a social marketing campaign in their schools and communities
