Jefferson CityMore than 500 Missouri students and mentors participated in the 2009 youth tobacco use prevention conference held in Jefferson City on February 10th and 11th. The event was a great success and featured motivational speakers, advanced training in tobacco control leadership, interactive educational sessions, and more.

You can check out the conference program to see how students spent their time or you can visit the home page and see the student produced newscast of the event. Pictures of students taking the anti-tobacco cause to their legislators and Governor Jay Nixon are available in the media section of this site.

Schools and teachers engaged in anti-tobacco programming should note: Travel related expenses (mileage expense, hotel lodging, and meals) were paid for conference participants. So stay tuned for the announcement and registration materials for next year's event.

The University of Missouri planned this conference with funding from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Additional support was provided by national and state-wide voluntary agencies.
